Long-distance move from Cornelius, NC to Charleston, SC

Worst movers I've ever had

I used the Charlotte branch and they bait and switched the price once I had signed the contract. They did nearly 800$ of damage to my condo on the move out. They lost a one of a kind art piece and then refused to compensate me for it, and broke a lamp and 2 frames. Not only refused to properly compensate me, but were rude and dismissive as well. THE WORST

Fox Movers.

I had a great time with this company. They called me the week before I moved to confirm and go over details. Then, the day before the move the mover himself called to go over specifics. They were even a few minutes early! That was a definite bonus since moving services are notorious for being late. I thought the guys were super helpful and did a great job! .

Do not use! They lie & damage your stuff.

Do not use this company at all! They dropped my new refrigerator and gashed the inside of it (shelves fell out and lodged into the insulation through the plastic), they damaged over 9 items, scarred my wood floor of the new house, scratched the wooden banister and stairs. I was told by the movers after they made a call to their manager that the refrigerator would be replaced cause it was clearly their fault--to just call Brittany on Monday. Now, they make you sign a contract that has a statement on it for $.60/lb. I specifically asked about this statement prior to anything being moved cause that amount would definitely NOT cover my heavier items like the refrigerator, washer/dryer, etc. I was told by the mover, Randy, that the $.60/lb only applies to the boxes I packed myself, NOT appliances or heavy equipment. When I called Brittany, she said to document it all in a letter, and she would take care of it. Another week later, she had more documentation to fill out--putting the weight of every item damaged. You simply can't know the weight of all of your furniture and the weight of a damaged wood floor cannot be accounted for.  A few weeks later they sent a letter to sign saying you accept the $750. I paid $867 for the move and $3100 for the refrigerator and they think $750 makes the situation of all damages correct? This company is abominable. They are deceptive to say the least. They are the worst company I have dealt with for any product or service in a very long time. They have no problem misrepresenting themselves (lying) to get business. All I can say is, don't use them--even if they do look like the least cost. It isn't worth it to have your belongings damaged and the frustration and energy to try and get it resolved. They will do nothing to help you. As a matter of fact, the only thing they do is cause more frustration after the damage is done. For sanity's sake, spend the money and hire another mover--NOT FOX MOVING!

Long-distance move from Tennessee to Washington DC

Really rude moving company-TERRIBLE COMPANY and dispatch manager.

This was the worst experience in moves I've had yet. They were 3 hrs late. The dispatch manager Heath was extremely rude over phone. On delivery, they put two holes in our walls, broke a light fixture, and left a large black mark on our wooden floors. Their response at the end was that the holes in the walls fall under "unusual circumstances" and will not be covered. They did not cover the dresser while moving it causing one of the walls. If you could literally go with any other moving company in the area, I would. I wish I had read these reviews before.

Worst move ever.

The two men they sent were a joke. Couldn't lift 25 lbs without moaning. Took 6 hours to load what should have taken 2. Damaged a ton of furniture, ran over the mailbox, didn't want to even unload us when we got to our new house that was just 2 miles away because they were tired. I could go on and on. Called and spoke to manager and asked for a claim form. Took days to receive. Will post an update to let people know if they pay for items they damage without a fight.

Do Not Ever Use This Company to Move.

We moved from Chattanooga TN to Texas and when our stuff arrived everything was piled on top of each other as you can see from our pictures. All of our furniture was damaged and all our fragile boxes are crushed as you can see in the pictures. Things we will never be able to replace from our parents that have already passed away, just gone. We had Thousands of dollars ruined and all they offered from their insurance was $250.00. For a company to even be in business like this in unreal. DO NOT use them to move..save all your valuables and go somewhere else. They told us that our furniture would be shrink-wrapped as you can see it is not. When they opened the back of that truck, my husband and I were sick. They charged us $5000.00 for the move and we have way more damage than that. My husband is a morning show radio host and I am an author and keynote speaker and travel and speak all over the world. We have things that were in this truck from other countries that will never be replaceable. My husband's music collection he has had for the last 28 years of being in the field of radio, just crushed. All of our furniture was scratched. Our best advice to you is to DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

No job too small!

I hired Fox Moving of Chattanooga to move an entire bedroom suite from one end of town to the other. This was a craigslist find. It was a job that I thought would take 2-3hrs with two men. My wife called to get quotes, Fox was about the only one to give a quote and how their pricing actually worked. So I figured we might as well give them a shot. The two guys showed up on the day scheduled, a Sunday btw. They were within the time frame and apologetic for not being there earlier, but it wasn't a big deal. I could actually tell that they had been working hard earlier that day. They jumped right into getting the furniture taped and loaded into the truck. Long story short, they waisted no time and very safely moved the furniture in under 2 hours. I was thoroughly impressed with their quickness which translates into money saved.

Fox Moving and Storage-Knoxville/Nashville.

I contracted with Fox Moving and Storage on 3-9-12 to move and store my household furniture which was located at my home.  I was assured at that time that my furniture would be placed in vaults or pods securely containing only my furniture. I paid an initial amount of $850.00 and a monthly storage fee of $200.00 for nearly 2 years. On 2/3/14, upon my instructions, they re-delivered my furniture to the same address and were also to pick up and deliver the contents of 2 small storage units (10'x15' and 5'x10') located a mile or so from my house.   Somehow, they lost or misplaced the 48 " round top to an oak kitchen table, a 2'x 3' oak end table, and a 48 "black television table with glass doors. Also, a number of items are damaged, including an oak pie safe, an Ethan Allen bedside table, a leather sofa and an oak bentwood kitchen chair. During the course of the delivery I had the supervisor (John McGrath) note the missing items and take pictures of the damaged items.   At the time, the supervisor stated that the missing items were probably "overflow" and were most likely stored in a separate pod. He instructed me to call Brian Michael (his boss) the next day and let him know the situation. I did so and Brian said he would look into it. He failed to call me back and would not return phone calls. On the 5th I called Amy Cragg (the Knoxville Manager and VP)  and she told me she would look into it and call me back by the end of the day..she failed to do so. On the 6th I finally reached Amy and was told they were still looking for my items. I then called John and asked that he look for the items; he promised to do so the next morning, but I never heard from him either. As of the today, I have heard nothing further from anyone at Fox Moving in Knoxville. My impression is that no one in the Knoxville operation really cares about this.   Further, the total charge of $2215. is exorbitant. Four men and 2 trucks did not show up until well after 1:00 PM on the 3rd, yet I was charged from 9:00 AM at the 4 man 2 truck rate of $178.00 per hour. There were indeed two trucks, but one arrived empty. Two of the men including the supervisor immediately left the site in the empty truck to pick up the contents of the storage units and left 2 men to unload the truck containing the furniture. Of those two, one spent his time complaining about his pay, mending his pants and talking on his cell phone. The other two returned over 4 hours later and had not emptied the storage units completely. After assisting with unloading the furniture, all four returned to the storage units, but came back without completing the job, saying that they had to go to another job. I had to finish emptying the storage units myself.     On 2/10/14, I spoke with Brittany in the Nashville office who was going to speak with the Knoxville office and get back to me regarding the lost and damaged furniture and the excessive charges. The only thing she did was send me a claim form, which I sent back to her on the 11th by Priority Mail. Thus far no one has responded. They have lost well over $2000. worth of furniture and caused several hundred dollars in damage. Nobody in this organization  seems to accept responsibility for anything.   On March 1st I received a settlement offer of $462.00 for the loss and damage but nothing was mentioned about the overcharges. The $462. Is based upon an estimated weight of the lost and damaged items, which are valued at over $3000.  I have rejected that offer.    It is worth noting that the Knoxville Better Business Bureau has 24 complaints about this company. There are also 26 complaints against the Nashville (HQ) office.  I am not sure what the relationship is between Knoxville, Nashville and Chattanooge but the common thread seems to be that Nashville is the main office that handles claims.  .

Don't waste your time with Fox.

I called Fox on the positive review of a friend who had used them. I spoke with Troy about a move from Chattanooga to Memphis and we set an appointment on a Saturday to do a walk through to get an estimate. No show, no call. I called twice at the time of the appointment and then again 2 hours later. Both times I was put through to someone's vovoice mail but never received a call back. If they don't show for an estimate they probably won't show for the move. Adios, Fox.

Do Not Hire this company!

The move was scheduled for February 21. The woman who set up the move from the Nashville office sent several emails to me detailing the move, with a mistake every time. However, she swore that she had all of the information correct with her. The warehouse supervisor in Chattanooga called Friday, February 20th, and said it was possible, that due to the wintry weather for the next day, there was a chance that they wouldn’t be able to help move. He said he would call the next day to let us know. The supervisor called back in the morning and said he lived on Lookout Mountain and couldn’t get drive down, due to weather, to distribute the keys to his workers for the trucks to help us move. He called later in the day, around 2 pm, and said that he couldn’t find anyone who wanted to work for our move that day. He then said his workers would definitely be there the next morning, Sunday, February 22 at 8 am to help us move. They arrived around 8 am, and didn’t start working until 8:15 because of all the paperwork that had to be signed. They also tried to mark on the paperwork that they started moving at 8 am, which was not true. The workers said that moving our piano would be an extra $50, which was not lined out in the contract. As the two men started to move items, one of the men was adding on information to the already written contract, asking us to initial by “written in” statements about the “already made” marks on furniture in the house. He said that they were not responsible for any “already marked” furniture after it was moved. We asked how we are supposed to know the difference between what was already there and what they have damaged. The worker responded by saying there wouldn’t be any damage from them, so it was never understood why they were asking us to initial to “already marked” furniture. We said we would just take pictures of all the furniture to designate the difference between “already marked” and damage from them. The worker said we couldn’t take pictures. As this continued, the worker’s demeanor became disrespectful. We then called the supervisor and asked him why we were being asked to initial by “written in” statements not already included in the contract as well as relay information concerning the worker’s demeanor. He also said that we were allowed to take pictures, even though the worker said no. The supervisor called his worker, had a discussion with him, and 10 minutes later, the workers started moving everything back in, saying they were quitting and not finishing our move. I attempted to call back the supervisor, twice, and he never answered. I was forced to leave a voice mail and have never heard back from the company. After we had to rent a uhaul and move everything ourselves and pay friends to help us, we found out from others that this company is prone to walking off jobs and has damaged furniture from other moves. If you can afford it, hire a good moving company. If you don't have the money, hire friends and a uhaul.
